The Ghost and Aliens Close to the Military Base in Andalucía

Advertisements

A trail of ghost children passing the road, the sight of a shining woman in the middle of the road are just some of the strange tales about the haunted stretch of road close to a military base in Andalucía.

Over the course of 19 years people claimed to see strange apparition on the stretch of road from Seville to Moron de la Frontera in Andalucía. It was built to connect the towns of Arahal, Utrera, Montellano and the Moron air base and strange things are said to happen here in the dead of the night.

There is not only one ghost story connected to this place, but several. And the ghost stories told about this place is not even the strangest thing told about this stretch of road.

The Ghost of Children Crossing the Road

Some of the strange apparition seen along this road is what appears to be the ghosts of school children.

Drivers along this road saw lines of children wearing what looked like school uniforms as they were crossing the road while holding hands before they suddenly vanished into thin air.

This was told by 4 young people in a car when one night 20 years ago a man jumped out from the ditch and stopped the traffic in the middle of the night by standing in the middle of the road to let the ghost children pass.

A line of children, boys and girls holding hands dressed in their school uniforms appeared. They crossed the road and disappeared without a trace.

If there have been a particular accident involving young school children that ended their life in a car accident is unclear. However, the legend about the ghost children crossing the road had been told for years now and has cemented itself as a part of the road lore.

There has been talk that it used to be a rural school in the place a long time ago, but what happened to it, no one really knows.

The Shining Woman in the Middle of the Road

Another ghost legend told about the place is what appears like the ghost of a woman. She is said to be appearing in the middle of the road who shines so bright that they first think she is some sort of traffic signal.

One of the witnesses of this strange thing was seen by Pedro Luque and his wife when they came driving on this road. It was dark and winter and when they approached what they thought was a traffic signal, they realized it was a woman.

He described her as at least 50 years old tall and skinny, with a serious look on her face like she was scared.

They didn’t stop for her, but when they passed her on the road and looked in the rearview mirror, she was gone.

Whether this is some sort of classical vanishing hitchhiker story is likely, but it could also pass as some of the more strange rumors going on about this road.

UFO’s and Humanoid Figures Close to the Military Base

As mentioned earlier, ghost stories are far from the strangest things people talk about when talking about this road. There have also been talks about seeing UFOs and other otherworldly things here.

Even the military have taken action to investigate the strange things that seemingly keep happening here.

A fair point about the strange things happening around these parts have been attributed to the proximity to the military base, especially since it is close to the base of the secretive Spanish air force in Moron.

The Darkness Haunting Bor Forest in Czech Republic

Advertisements

For many years now, Bor Forest in the Czech Republic is said to house many haunting stories. Everything from strange ghostly legends from Slavic folklore to strange things that went down during the communist regime after the second world war.

Bor Forest, also known as Branišovský les, stands as a silent witness to a myriad of chilling legends and mysterious occurrences in the heart of South Bohemia, near České Budějovice. Bor means pine and the forest is spanning approximately 300 hectares, this mixed forest has gained notoriety for its tragic events, whispers of supernatural entities, and inexplicable phenomena.

It has undergone significant transformations throughout time, serving various purposes such as an excursion forest park, shooting range, and military area close to the Polish border. The landscape features diverse tree species, with the northeastern part covered in spruce mixed with oak, while the southwestern region is dominated by pine trees.

Bor Forest’s reputation for paranormal activity rests on numerous legends and reported encounters. The forest is believed to be haunted by a variety of entities, each contributing to the eerie aura that envelops the area.

The Military Tragedy in Bor Forest

Once upon a time, often set to the 1960 to 80s, there was a military base stationed in Bor Forest to guard the local storage for their ammunition. It is said that four soldiers were patrolling close to the former guard post and one of the pair was taking over the nightshift when something happened. According to the stories, one of the soldiers started to change, like another being, something monstrous. Another version tells that the soldiers got scared from “The Horror of the Forest”.

This caused chaos among the soldiers that started shooting and three of them ended up dead and the last one died from the wounds later at Budweiser Military Hospital where he managed to tell a little bit about what happened, but not enough to end the mystery.

What really happened then is hard to tell. Some say it was more of an internal thing and that stress caused some of the soldiers to take their own life. Some say that it really did happen, but it was in a completely different place and was an argument and jealousy that caused the shooting.

There were no writings about this in the newspapers or other media. Seeing that the Czech Republic was under the Soviet Union and heavily censored could also be an explanation as to why there is not more written about this except from the local gossip. Even to this day, a lot of these documents are still classified.

But what could it have been, this horror from Bor Forest that the story talks about. As it turns out, there could be more than one supernatural and dark thing that the soldiers came face to face with.

The Haunted Swamps and the Vodník

Czech Vodník

References to Bor Forest go back at least 400 years. One of the stories circulating around the Bor forest is about the swamps and waters in the forest. They used to be much bigger than today, and many travelers ended their life in these waters throughout time. It is said that the souls of these people were trapped close to the waters and they stayed to haunt them, trying to lure bypasses to join them in death.

Some of the early swamps or waters were also said to have a Vodník living there, a sort of sea spirit, or water man from Slavic folklore living in water, much like the German nixon or the Scottish kelpie.

Vodník was said to look much like a man with green hair, but his bride was often a mermaid or a girl he drowned. He was also known for luring children and women to the water by hanging colorful ribbons or mirrors around or shapeshifting to a child and then drowning the one trying to rescue him.

The Black Man

The Black Coloum were the Black Man is said to often be spotted in Bor Forest.

A sound often reported on in Bor Forest is the sound of footsteps in the dry leaves or heavy snow. The sound of the steps have chased many people through the forest and many believe that it is most likely the step coming from the Black Man.

Described as a tall figure with a broad black hat and a flowing black cape, the Black Man is also called the Black Knight and even The Lord of the Forest. He has been witnessed floating above the ground, moving with unnatural speed. Some claim to have heard soft music preceding the appearance of this enigmatic figure, accompanied by a sudden drop in temperature.

The first written reports about the entity was in 1993, and the nest in 1994 and he is mostly sighted around The Black Pillar, a memorial for something people don’t remember. Today it is an integral part of the lore of the Forest.

Another story coming from the 90s is also the rumor for people seeing mysterious red eyes hovering about two meters above the ground after nightfall have been reported by witnesses. The first written account was in 1998. Contrary to explanations attributing them to car taillights, some claim these eyes approached them or even pursued them through the forest.

The White Lady

As with most haunted places in Europe, it wouldn’t be complete without its own Woman in White, and the haunted Bor forest is no exception.

The apparition of a woman in white is tied to a tragic tale of a murdered resident haunting a nearby building, unable to find peace even in death.

It is also said that a young girl is haunting the woods after taking her life in an abandoned farmhouse between České Budějovice and Branišov. Although there is not really any proof that such a thing ever happened in the farmhouse.

The Hanged Man’s Tree

Another story told about Bor Forest is the strange tree said to have taken the lives of many. In 1927 a young couple checked into the new and luxurious Hotel Praha in Branišov. The building is today used as an office for the city council.

The couple went on their way on a hike into the forest, but never returned. When a search party was sent out, they found them hanging in a tree in the midst of the forest. Not much was said about the tree itself until another woman was found hanging in the same tree not too long after.

Mr. Kříž was a local man and decided to take matters into his own hands and went into the forest and cut the deadly branch from the tree and brought it home to burn it. Not too far after this, he ended in an accident and his hand he used to cut the branch off with ended up paralyzed. This alarmed the rest of the townspeople that went to the tree, cut it all up and burned it to the ground.

Although the descendant of Mr. Kříž claims there was no paranormal story connected to the tree, or that there were no accidents after he cut off the branch, the story about it lives on. The tree is gone, it is said that people have heard a voice coming from the place where the tree once stood. The voice is beckoning them to it, encouraging whoever is passing to take their own life.

Time Warps and Unexplained Events:

One of the most perplexing phenomena reported in Bor Forest involves time warps. In the 1960s, one of the residents of U Pěti zlodějů (also named Jednoty, on older maps) was cycling home from České Budějovice, around 6:00 p.m. As he rode through the dusty, unpaved Bor Forest, he experienced an unusual phenomenon.

The entire forest seemed to undulate before him and he got off his bike. He noticed that the road and gravel beneath his feet were in motion. Exiting the forest and passing through Branišov, he was surprised to find no lights in any of the windows, even though it was barely 7:00 p.m. Upon reaching home, he discovered it was 3:00 a.m. The one-hour journey had inexplicably taken nine hours.

The Strange City

Another story about time is when two women walked through Bor, and one of them suddenly ran into the bushes. When she didn’t return for a prolonged period, the other went to look for her. To her surprise, there was no trace of the friend. Just as she wondered where she might have gone, the missing woman reappeared seemingly out of nowhere.

She recounted a strange experience of a green mist enveloping her, parting to reveal an unknown landscape filled with vibrant, intense colors and a distant golden city. A man in black approached her, placed a hand on her forehead, and pushed her back into Bor Forest. While she spent a few minutes in an unfamiliar place, her friend waited in the forest for three-quarters of an hour.

The UFO-Crash

It is certainly a strange place with a lot of old legends. But the strange and mysterious stories from newer times are just as haunting, especially as a lot of information from its time as a closed off communist country hides a lot of the information.

One time, there was an unknown object that crashed in the area and it was closed off for a year by a special unit. Even the local military was denied access to it. When the area finally opened again, many of the trees looked damaged, like something had crashed close to them. What could it be? The firemen claim that the trees caught fire around the year 2000. A witness said that it could have been more likely an airplane or helicopter that crashed in the area, although of course the local gossip is that a UFO landed there, and that the information surrounding this is still top secret.

Branišovský les and its Haunting Allure

Bor Forest, with its haunting mysteries and supernatural tales, invites those brave enough to explore its depths. As legends intertwine with the natural beauty of the landscape, Bor Forest remains an enigmatic realm where reality and the paranormal blur into a tapestry of chilling narratives. Venture forth, if you dare, and immerse yourself in the unsettling allure of Bor Forest’s haunted legacy.

The Haunted Babenhausen Kaserne

Advertisements

Ghosts of nazi soldiers and witches haunt this old barracks in Hesse Germany. In the Babenhausen Kaserne there are stories about everything from soldier clad uniforms floating around as well as phone calls from a woman talking backwards.

In Hesse Germany there is a medieval town called Babenhausen at the mountain range of the Odenwald where a lot of the old buildings and parts of the old city wall still remain. The old city has seen most of human tragedies, everything from world wars and tragedies like the witch hunts.

Today Babenhausen Kaserne serves as a museum, but earlier, the Babenhausen Kaserne otherwise called DP-Lager Babenhausen was home to both German and American soldiers over the years. It was first used to house soldiers all the way back in the early 1900s throughout the both world wars. After the Americans took over as they did  with many of the former German military bases after World War 2, it was the American soldiers that got to experience the hauntings said to happen at Babenhausen Kaserne.

The Ghost Phone: According to the legends, there is a phone that keeps ringing in the dead of night. It is a woman that sounds like she is talking backwards.

It is said that ghosts from the second world war are still haunting the barracks of Babenhausen Kaserne and according to reports they have been seen still wearing their uniforms. Wars were raging across Europe at the time, and soldiers from both World War 1 and World War 2 were stationed at these barracks.

There are many things that happens after dark at the barracks that makes ghost stories circulate about it. Lights at the old barracks turn on and off when no one is suppose to be inside of it, and if you listen, you can hear the sound of footsteps and voices shouting commands in the middle of the night coming from the basement.

There is also a strange rumor about strange phone calls the soldiers got during their stay from the time of landlines. What is extra strange is that the voice on the other side of the line is not the ghosts of male soldiers of the past. According to them, they only heard the voice of a woman, sounding as if she was talking backwards.

Who is this female voice in a place mainly haunted by men? What could she possible be saying? It turns out that the grounds the barracks is built upon has a much older history, and goes back all the way to the witch hunts in Germany many centuries ago.

The Witch Tower by the Barracks

In the old town of Babenhausen, there is a Witch Tower which is the landmark of the town. A witch tower, or Hexenturrn as it is in German, is a term used for a tower that was part of a town fort or castle that served as a prison in the past. The name was given from the time of the witch hunts, were they put up the suspected witches and kept them prisoners as they went through torture before being burned at the stake.

The Witch Tower: In the town by the barracks there is an old witch tower they used a prison back in the day. It is here they supposedly imprisoned over 50 women before burning them at the stake. Who knows, maybe it was more?//Source: wikimedia/Lumpeseggl

This witch tower in Babenhausen can have a connection to the other strange paranormal rumor that goes around in the old barracks. According to legend, there was in the 17th century over 50 women imprisoned in this witch tower suspected of being witches, all being burned alive on the marketplace in the city.

One of these witches burned at the stake were according to the stories, a certain Mrs. Mueller who was thought to be behind the death of 3 men that she supposedly killed with sorcery.

Fast forward to 1843, there was another woman related to Mrs. Mueller who were stoned to death on the account of them believing she was a witch.

This particular Mrs. Mueller allegedly seduced and killed at least 5 German soldiers when the barracks first were built. According to this legend their bodies were found in the Babenhausen Kaserne attic and their death remained a mystery.

The Ghost of Mrs. Mueller in Babenhausen Kaserne

Or could it be the other version of the legend, where there is also a Mrs. Mueller, who is said to be haunting the HQ building in Babenhausen Kaserne? She was a young woman engaged to one of the soldiers at Babenhausen Kaserne. This was in the early days of world war 1 when people thought it would be over in a matter of months.

Mrs. Mueller’s fiance and 3 of his friends didn’t want to be sent to war in France and hid in the attic with her help. They stayed there for a couple of days, but were found when Mrs. Mueller tried to sneak some food and drink up to them. They were arrested and shot by a firing squad all 4 deserters and it was too much for Mrs. Mueller.

The very same day they were shot, Mrs Mueller jumped from the HQ building and the fall killed her instantly. And according to the legend, just at that moment, the clocks to the officers clock tower stopped the very moment she died. It is said that she is one of those that is haunting the barracks.

The Haunted Barracks of Babenhausen Kaserne

In conclusion, the Babenhausen Kaserne in Hesse, Germany holds a fascinating mix of history and paranormal legends. From the ghosts of Nazi soldiers to the haunting calls of a woman speaking backwards, this old barracks is steeped in eerie tales.

Whether it’s the sightings of soldiers adorned in their uniform, lights flickering on and off, or the echoes of distant footsteps and commanding voices, the presence of the past lingers within the walls of Babenhausen Kaserne. These ghostly apparitions serve as a reminder of the turbulent times and the sacrifices made during World War II.

The Ghosts of War: Some of the hauntings going on in the Barracks of Babenhausen Kaserne is thought to be the ghosts of the soldiers that were stationed there during the wars.

Additionally, the connection between the Witch Tower in the town and the strange phenomena reported in the barracks adds another layer of intrigue. The imprisonment and tragic fate of over 50 women accused of witchcraft in the Witch Tower fuels speculation about their involvement in the paranormal occurrences. Could their restless spirits be seeking justice or revenge?

As the years pass, these ghostly tales continue to captivate the imaginations of visitors and locals alike, ensuring that the legacy of the barracks and the spirits that call it home will be remembered for generations. Whether one believes in the supernatural or not, the stories of the Babenhausen Kaserne serve as a chilling reminder of the tumultuous history that unfolded within its walls.

The Haunted Observation Post Rock in War Torn Afghanistan

Advertisements

Strange lights and sounds have been reported on from the war ridden Observation Post Rock. Remains of Russians, Taliban and perhaps even older groups of soldiers have been found in the ground that perhaps still are haunting the place.

In the Helmand Province in Afghanistan there are more than the living that patrol the observation point as paranormal sightings have been seen around these parts for a long time at this place called The Observation Post Rock that the American Marines took use as a base and a observation spot. What is it about this particular observation post that makes the ghost linger?

American Army in Afghanistan: The American army spent years in Afghanistan since the early 2000s, staying in bases across the country. Some of these bases like O.P Rock in Helmand Province was already there when they arrived and is reportedly a haunted one.

Before being taken over by the American troops, The Observation Post Rock or O.P Rock was a Taliban controlled fort, almost falling to pieces. The Americans also dropped a 900 kg bomb on the place before taking over the place. Situated only a few hundred meters south east of Patrol Base Hassan Abad, The Rock is a desolate place.

Read More: Another place haunted in the desert by war is The Ghost of Khar Khot, The Black City in the Gobi Desert.

It was at the hands of NATO since it was captured from the Taliban in 2008 and used as a military base for soldiers stationed there. Although today, The Observation Post Rock has fallen into the hands of the Taliban once again when they took control of Afghanistan in 2021.

Who are the Taliban?

A big part of the supposed hauntings is said to be from rebel forces like the Taliban who used to control the Rock, and are today the ones using it as an observation post. The Taliban is a group of islamic fundamentalist and pashtun nationalist and a militant political movement in Afghanistan. It ruled the country from 1996 to 2001 after the Afghan Civil War (1992-1996), before being overthrown following the United States invasion.

They are deemed by most countries as a terrorist group with little regard to human rights, especially women’s right to both education and autonomy of their own lives. They enforced strict Sharia laws.

In 2021 when the US troops left Afghanistan, they came back into power again after only a few months, and by August they controlled every major city, enforcing many of the same laws they used to have last time they were in power.

The Dead Bodies of Soldiers from Ancient Wars

According to the locals living in the area, The Observation Post Rock was a place where they claim rebel fighters were buried alive during a missile strike when the Americans started bombing the place to fight the Taliban. And when the American Marines that were clearing out the place to use it as a base for the US in the early 2000s, they found more than one body, buried in a shallow trenches.

The US troops reburied the dead they found and turned the observation rock into a base for operation. But the horrifying things didn’t stop there as the soldiers working there noticed they were not alone.

Read more: Interested in haunted military bases? How about checking out Conn Barracks Ghosts of Nazi Soldiers and Bloody Nurses or The Haunted Babenhausen Kaserne.

When the Americans dug into the place they found human remains in the collapsed cave system that used to be under it. But there were not only victims of the war they were currently fighting as some of the bones were from previous wars, even ancient and thought to be hundreds of years old.

An Observation Rock: The Marines chose the big rock because of the vantage point of the rocky climate in Afghanistan to use as their base. This happened across the whole country. Here from another place in the country they also took use of the high ground to keep watch.

The Helmand Province is one of 34 provinces in Afghanistan and the largest in area and also said to be one of the most conservative areas. Throughout the 2001-2021 war in Afghanistan it was often considered at the time to be Afghanistan’s “most dangerous” place and it witnessed some of the heaviest fighting during the war, where at its peak hundreds of civilians were being killed monthly.

The local Afghans in the surrounding Amir Agha villages as well as the soldiers who have been stationed at the base claim that The Observation Post Rock is haunted and cursed, and has been for a long time, even before the wars in modern time.

The Observation Post Rock is not a new fort at all, and has been used for many wars over the years, and new holders keep building on top of what used to be there. The locals claim that the place has been used as a fort of some kind even back to the time of Alexander the Great when he invaded as far back in 330 BC.

Strange Lights and Static Sounds at The Observation Post Rock

Considering the danger to those living in the area and the history, there is no wonder that the place got some haunted rumors about it. But what is going on in this place that makes the hardest of soldier sure something paranormal things are going on?

Soldiers that are stationed at the military outpost are tormented by mysterious sounds and seeing things not belonging to this world. Reports about radios giving off static sounds, sudden temperature changes from hot to cold and a general feeling of uneasiness have left the soldiers with a feeling of being watched.

There are also those who claims to have seen flashes of lights when patrolling the barren landscape in the night at The Observation Post Rock. A trick of the eye perhaps of overstraining in a war ridden zone where you always have to be on guard? Perhaps, but the strange light around the place is something that more than one soldier reported on.

Soviet Remains and Ghosts that Lingers Still

One of the supposedly paranormal things we hear about from The Observation Post Rock is the foul smell filling the observation palace. A rotten smell is also some of the things that have been reported by the soldiers on random parts of the night at The Observation Post Rock, a smell eerily similar to the one of rotten flesh.

There are also talks about strange sounds coming from the dead of the night, and one of the sounds they have heard are voices of not only the victims of ongoing war, but also something that sounds like Russians are heard in the darkness. Problem is, the Russians left years ago and the only russians left were the dead soldiers from another war in another time.

Soviet Soldiers in Afghanistan: During the Soviet Afghan war from 1979-1989, many deaths were counted on both sides on The Observation Post Rock among other places in the 1980s. This is soldiers from Odintsovo in Russia, killed during the war in Afghanistan. //Photo: Valeri Pizhanski

During the Soviet occupation of the country for many years, there used to be stationed a fair amount of Russian soldiers at The Observation Post Rock as well. And many rumors say that the Russians that used to be stationed at this place ended up being executed by the Mujahidin, the guerrilla-type militant groups led by the Islamist Afghan fighters in the Soviet–Afghan War from 1979-1989.

Could the ghosts of these Russian soldiers be the one being heard in their native tongue, haunting the The Observation Post Rock, even to this day?

The Observation Post Rock Today

If the legends from the locals are correct, the The Observation Post Rock has been used as some sort of fortress and place of war since the time of Alexander the Great, living over 2000 years ago. Sadly, it looks like the place will be used for war for a long time still and the victim of the many wars seems to be piling up.

What the fate of the observation post now, is more of a bigger question. The U.S army pulled out in 2021, and the Taliban quickly regained territory over the whole province again during their weeks of fighting and heavy bombing across the whole Province. Perhaps in a few years time we will hear the ghost stories of soldiers being haunted by war again?

The Lingering Presence of a Nazi Ghost at Skaugum

In the bunkers at one of the Norwegian Royal Family’s residents, Skaugum, there is a rumor of the place being haunted. One of the ghost that haunts the place, is the former Nazi Reichskommissar from the war, Terboven.

Skaugum, Asker, Norway: 1945.

No one has flagged with the Norwegian flag in a long time since the German occupation five years earlier and only the nazi flag with the black swastika on the white disk was allowed. But it is all about to change as the allies are closing in on Berlin and the second world war is coming to an end.

8th of May is approaching, the liberation day and the freeing of the nation are a couple of minutes from being announced. People are gathering in the the streets, ready to celebrate and start anew in a peace.

But there are some the freedom is nearing its end however. The German Reichskommissar for the occupied Norwegian areas, Josef Terboven have an arrest order on his name and is one of the number one nazi officials the Norwegians are after.

Terboven knows the war is over and that it will be showed no mercy from the allied forces, not from the people he spent five years at oppressing. He decided to end his life to avoid capture, but according to the rumours, his spirit never managed to escape.

The Reichskommissar in the Bunker

As Reichskommissar, Terboven was the one giving the orders that would send the people of the nation to the working and death camps. He was responsible for the imprisonment, executions- everything.

When he took office in Norway it was he who brought death penalty back to a country that had made it unlawful. You could end up dead by leaving the country without permission, listen to illegal radio, taken with illegal newspapers and help war prisoners and refugees. He was by the end of the war, one of the most hated men in Norway.

All of this is hanging over his shoulders that day in May when people are celebrating. He sits in his bunker at Skaugum, a farm originally owned by the Royal Family outside of Oslo. He once barged in, chased the royal family away and started living there. Now, he himself is the one that is about to be chased away.

The bunker at Skaugum is only 200 meter from the main house the crown prince of Norway owns of and stays in today. There the next King and Queen of Norway lives together with their children.

On that day in 1945 Terboven realized that all hope for a German victory was out of question and hid in the bunker together with the last of the German officials left.

Wilhelm Redieß, the SS boss in the country had already killed himself by gun. “That was early, he beat me to it”, he commented on the suicide.

But Terboven would follow shortly and he had brought 50 kg of dynamite to his bunker at Skaugum and that is how he ended his days. He blew himself up to avoid being prosecuted for his crimes. At 23:30, he detonated the bomb exploded along with the body of Redieß.

The remaining crew of SS spent the rest of the dynamite the next day when Norwegian police came to burn it all down.

The Ghost in the Bunker

According to the legend, the bunker at Skaugum is also were Terboven will spend his eternity. For a long time after the war, it has been reports about activities that no one has been able to explain close to the bunker where nazi officers ended their days.

His Majesty The King’s Guard; the Royal Guards, a battalion of the Norwegian army are the ones guarding the Royal property and residents, including Skaugum today. And there is also from the soldiers the stories comes from.

They tell they have experience many strange things they believe to have a paranormal origin walking the empty places near the bunker at Skaugum. Strange tracks from or to the bunker is spotted for example by the forest surrounding the estate close to the fence. The soldiers have to patrol there and comes back with stories about strange sounds and apparitions, even during the day. Late at night close to the bunkers, the keep hearing the sound of voices and when they go to check it out, they find that they are alone. At least the only living thing there.

There are also placed calls from the outer guard post when no one is placed there to make them.
