The Haunting Legend of Bhuli Bhatiyari Ka Mahal in Karol Bagh

Advertisements

At the Central Ridge in Delhi, you’ll find Bhuli Bhatiyari Ka Mahal, a haunted old hunting lodge said to be haunted. But who of the many people that have been connected to this Mahal is still lingering?

In the bustling neighborhood of Karol Bagh in Delhi lies a monument that carries with it a legend away from the busy market. Bhuli Bhatiyari Ka Mahal (भूली भटियारी का महल), a ruined fort palace in the dense forest with a haunting past.

The Bhuli Bhatiyari Ka Mahal has mostly been left on its own devices inside of the thick forest, falling into disrepair over time. Although some restorations have been done to it, it seems like it will never be able to shake its haunted past off it.

History and Legend of Bhuli Bhatiyari Ka Mahal

Bhuli Bhatiyari Ka Mahal, also known as Bhuli Bhatiyara Palace, was built during the Tughlaq dynasty in the 14th century by Emperor Firoz Shah Tughlaq. It is said this fort was built as a hunting lodge, most likely in 1354.

After the Tughlaq dynasty The Bhuli Bhatiyari Ka Mahal was abandoned and became the place for a Sufi saint named Bu Ali Bakhtiyari. The name of the building is said to be a distorted version of the Sufi’s name, or even one of the female caretakers called Bu-Ali Bhatti. It is also said she was a tribal woman from Rajasthan that got lost and ended up here.

The Forgotten Castle: Today The Bhuli Bhatiyari Ka Mahal is overgrown and mostly forgotten about by the world outside. No one is allowed near it after nightfall as it is said that is when the ghosts comes out to haunt the place. //Source: Mohammedqqasim/Wikimedia

The Queen Haunting the Grounds

Perhaps it is the woman called Bu Ali Bakhtiyari or the hermit Sufi that are today haunting the grounds. Perhaps it is something to the legend about the ancient queen haunting the place according to one of the legends that has grown from the place.

One of the enduring legends told about The Bhuli Bhatiyari Ka Maha is about a queen that lived in the hunting lodge and died there around 600 years ago. She apparently liked the palace so much she made it her residence.

The Ghost of the Queen: According to legend, there is a queen haunting the ruins of the Bhuli Bhatiyari Ka Mahal and the surrounding forest at night. Who could she be, and is there any truths to the legends?

Another version of the legend tells a more sinister story. Once the king saw the queen in love with someone else and imprisoned the queen in the forest and palace where she ended her days. Some local residents say that the queen had committed suicide in this fort out of a desire to take revenge from the king and if you happen to meet her in the forest, you might become another victim for the queens revenge as well.

No name has been given to this particular legend though, and we have no proof that a queen set foot in this place at all.

According to this enduring haunted story though it is said that after her death, she has been seen haunting the place at night. But perhaps she isn’t alone in haunting the Bhuli Bhatiyari Ka Mahal?

Ghostly Encounters and Haunting Stories

Over the years, there have been several reports of ghostly encounters and haunting stories associated with Bhuli Bhatiyari Ka Mahal. Visitors have reported feeling a sense of unease as soon as they enter the palace.

Many have claimed to have heard strange noises, footsteps, and whispers coming from the corridors. Some visitors have even reported feeling a cold breeze or a sudden drop in temperature, despite the hot and humid weather outside.

It is said that no one of the guards wants to stay at the the Bhuli Bhatiyari Ka Mahal or in the surrounding woods after dark and many are said to have quit after only a matter of days. There is supposedly a note written at the entrance warning people to come after dark. The Delhi Police is also said to patrol the area frequently and try to deter people from entering.

The Mystery of the White Wall

There is also a strange story about some people that claimed that they saw a huge white wall in the woods next to the building. This must have been many years ago since they didn’t use a digital camera. They took a picture of it with an analog though, but when they developed the picture, there was no wall there.

When they went back to the place they claimed to have seen the wall, they found no trace of it, and what it could have been.

The Mystery of Bhuli Bhatiyari Ka Mahal

Where the legends of it being haunted comes from is difficult to pinpoint. Some claim that there have always been stories about it. According to one of the guards that have been there for 34 years, people started talking about it being haunted first after people started posting about it on the internet.

As to why we can only speculate. Perhaps to attract tourists, perhaps to make an overgrown ruin a little bit more interesting? Or perhaps there is something lurking between the trees or just behind the gate of the old Mahal?

The Haunted Stepwell Agrasen Ki Baoli and its Dark Water

Advertisements

Down the ancient stepwell under Delhi, it is said that the water of Agrasen Ki Baoli turned black and called people to jump in to die. Visitors and locals claim to have seen and heard strange things down at the bottom and people think that it might be cursed.

The centuries-old stepwell, Agrasen Ki Baoli located in Delhi, India is a great place to hide away from the sun on hot days, but it is said it is closed during the night for a reason. Although it has been a popular tourist attraction for many years, this ancient structure is shrouded in eerie legends and tales of paranormal activity and they close it off at night.

Visitors who dare to venture down its red stone steps are said to experience a chilling sensation as they approach the depths of the now dry well, as if they are being watched by unseen forces. Some even claim to have heard ghostly whispers and seen shadowy figures lurking in the dark corners of the baoli, sometimes referred to as the Baoli of the Unseen

Legends Surrounding the Stepwell

Agrasen Ki Baoli is a stepwell that dates back to the 14th century on Hailey Road, near Connaught Place. Although legend claims it was built by Maharaja Agrasen, a legendary figure in Indian mythology, who is said to have been a great ruler and a protector of his people 3000 BC, nobody really knows for certain when and by whom it was built.

Under the bustling and modern Dehli in India, there is an ancient stepwell going down underground. The water has now dried up, but the well is still soaked with legends.

A Baoli in North India means a well with steps leading down to it. It can also be called a water temple. The water source was not only for drinking water, but to meet in the shadow away from the heat, wash clothes and bathe like a community hall. Agrasen Ki Baoli is one of the most well maintained of around 2000 ancient stepwells in India.

The stepwell is made up of 103 steps that lead down to a well, which was once used to store water during the dry season. The well is surrounded by arched niches, which were used as meeting places for local communities. The baoli also boasts intricate carvings and designs, including a series of 16th-century inscriptions that detail the history of the stepwell.

Paranormal Evil at Agrasen Ki Baoli

There is not really a particular event or history that is said to have been the start of the haunted rumors. Some will claim that it has always been haunted. But from what?

Visitors to Agrasen Ki Baoli have reported a variety of paranormal experiences, ranging from strange sounds and feelings of being watched to sightings of ghostly apparitions. Some have reported hearing ghostly whispers and voices, while others have reported seeing shadowy figures lurking in the dark corners of the baoli. There have also been reports of objects moving on their own, and of sudden drops in temperature that cannot be explained by natural means.

There have been reports of people feeling as though they are being pushed or touched by unseen hands, and of sudden feelings of dread or unease. These experiences have led many to believe that there is indeed something supernatural at work in Agrasen Ki Baoli.

There are also stories of a djinn who is said to reside in the stepwell, and who is responsible for the eerie sounds and strange occurrences that have been reported by visitors over the years.

The Curse of the Black Water

According to the legends, the well used to be filled with cursed black water that didn’t come from dirt, but rather some sort of curse or other evil. The water in the well is now dried up and there is nothing but bats and pigeons left. Or is it? It is said that the water was found in the stepwell up until the 90s, and many claim that the water was indeed black, but not by dirt. So then, by what?

Agrasen Ku Baoli: Up until the 21st century, the well was filled with water. This picture is called Diving into Ugrasen Baoili, Delhi, 1971 by photographer Raghu Rai. This show how the well looked filled with water. Did people talk about it being haunted then as well? //Source

When people came down here when it was water, they talked about some sort of force that made them want to drown in it. Something dark that was calling to them or somehow beckoning them towards the darkness.

When the water in the well found its victims, it made them walk into it and the water level rose and took them, gushing back dark blood. There have been reports of suicides in the past, the last one allegedly in 2007, well after the water in the well had dried up. But could it have been something in the well that called out to certain people?

The Haunted Agrasen Ku Baoli

Can we really trust this popular information though? According to many, the haunted stories started to be more prevalent after the water dried up in the 21st century. Although when the first rumors about the stepwell started to circulate is unknown.

Several bloggers claim that some sort of paranormal thing has happened here, and some say that many people have been paid to narrate these false ghost stories. For what cause is uncertain. But if you by any means see any type of black water rising in the well, just know, it’s not supposed to.

The Death of Paranormal Investigator Gaurav Tiwari and the Haunted Speculations

Advertisements

The death of a paranormal investigator in India was shrouded in rumors for a long time. After Gaurav Tiwari was found dead in 2016, people started to speculate whether something paranormal was the cause behind it.

In 2016, the prominent Indian paranormal investigator, Gaurav Tiwari was found dead in his home at only 32 years old. The police declared his death as a suicide, but speculations about what happened, ranging from something foul play, possession by evil forces to the power of a vengeful ghost, started to circulate. His death became a mystery, not unlike what he spent his life investigating. Let’s have a look at what happened back then and the stories it spawned.

Background as a Paranormal Investigator

Gaurav Tiwari: 2 September 1984 – 7 July 2016 (aged 31) was a well known paranormal investigator in India whose death sparked much speculations.

Gaurav Tiwari emerged as a figure of the paranormal and mysterious in India. He appeared in numerous TV shows like MTV Girls Night Out and Haunted Weekends, documentaries and podcasts where he discussed and tried to investigate the paranormal.

Instead of pursuing his career in aviation, he decided to found the Indian Paranormal Society and for years, Tiwari and his team searched the labyrinthine landscape of India, venturing into the darkest recesses of abandoned buildings, ancient ruins, and haunted locales.

His interests in the paranormal had started after he moved to Florida when he was 21 and moved into an apartment together with four other people. In 2007 as he was studying to become a pilot, he claimed to have experienced poltergeist like phenomena and heard whispers coming from nowhere. One of his other flatmates claimed to have seen the apparition of a young girl. They heard footsteps in the attic and ended up fleeing the house as the haunting wouldn’t stop.

This initial interest started to take over his life, eventually turning into a lifelong passion as well as a career. Over the course of his work he investigated more than 6000 alleged haunted locations as well as delving into UFO abductions and mysterious creatures.

The Death of Gaurav Tiwari

On a fateful night in July 2016, the world of paranormal investigation was plunged into darkness as news of Tiwari’s tragic demise spread like wildfire. His lifeless body was discovered in his home on July 7th in Dwarka, New Delhi and it looked like a suicide.

The news of his death came as a shock as there seemed to be no reason for him taking his life. He was newly married, had appeared on the cover of a magazine, tweeting and going to work like normally. He died on a Thursday and the days leading up to it seemed completely fine.

That Wednesday he had been investigating an alleged haunted house in Delhi’s Janakpuri and didn’t return back home until 1:30 that night in his apartment in Dwarka sector 19 he shared with his wife and parents. He fought with his wife when he came back that night, but the next day he was back to his normal self according to his family.

The Thursday evening he was checking his mails few moments before heading to his bathroom. His wife had heard a big thud from the bathroom at around 11, and when she came back to check on him as he didn’t give a life sign. Together with a neighbor they had to force their way through the door. There they found him on the floor. Although he was rushed to the hospital, they were unable to save his life.

Paranormal Investigator: Up until his death he was always investigating the paranormal realm and had been complaining about feeling the forces of them taking over him. What was the truth behind his death?

Speculation about his Death

So what happened if everything seemed fine? There was seemingly a lot of confusion about his sudden death and people started to talk. Some of the speculations were of course connected to his life work, the paranormal.

To Times of India, Gaurav Tiwari’s father told that he had been feeling “a negative force was pulling him towards it.

He was found with black marks on his necks, something that according to his family, Tiwari often talked about being a sign of revenge of spirits in distress. Often citing the movie The Omen from 1976 where such black lines seemed to also appear from nowhere.

His father persisted with the theory that they had numerous spirit sightings at home, all having occurred within five feet of his son who saw them although others didn’t.

To his wife he had said a month before his death that “he was trying to control it but seemed unable to do so.” His wife had not thought much about it and thought he was just depressed because of the heavy work that his family was unaware of.

Police Investigation of his Death

The Delhi Police concluded that the cause of death was asphyxiation as he had hanged himself in the bathroom. According to Surender Kumar, DCP said: “It is a clear case of suicide. He hanged himself in the bathroom using his wife’s dupatta on Thursday night”

Further investigation showed that his work had seemingly dried up and that his project didn’t really bring in a lot of money, although he was well known. This caused arguments between him and his family that wanted him to get a more conventional job, including his wife.

The argument the night he had died had lasted for almost two hours and during police investigation it was also revealed that the wife thought he was cheating as he spent long nights outside of his home. His broken phone was recovered from his room and although it didn’t really give any conclusive evidence of anything, it indicated that he was indeed tired and upset of being questioned by his family.

The Enduring Legend of Gaurav Tiwari

As we reflect on the life and work of Gaurav Tiwari, we are confronted with the sobering reality of our own mortality—a reminder that in the shadowy realm of the paranormal, death is but a gateway to the mysteries that lie beyond.

It is also a case of how we are confronted by death, we often try to deflect and come up with some other forces that are taking our lives instead of ourselves. Even within the community of those seeking death and the afterlife.

Ghostly Shadows by Dwarka Sector 9 Metro Station and the Haunted Peepal Tree

Advertisements

By a modern metro station in Delhi, there are rumors that the whole area of Dwarka Sector 9 Metro Station is haunted. Some say that the haunting comes from a Peepal Tree that has been there for a long time and attracts ghosts.

Amidst the bustling streets of Delhi lies a place shrouded in darkness—a place where the veil between the realms of the living and the dead grows thin, and the whispers of the supernatural echo through the night.

On Dwarka Sector 9 (द्वारका सेक्टर 9) you will find a temple close to the metro station that is found on the Blue Line of the Delhi Metro. Many will claim that it is the metro station itself that is haunted, but this is not completely true, as it is the surrounding area that are believed to be the haunted place. Outside the temple, Dada Bai Wala Mandir is a peepal tree that is said to be haunted by a ghost.

Dwarka Sector 9 Metro Station: Although a fairly new metro station, the Dwarka Sector 9 Metro Station has already accumulated a lot og haunted ghost stories said to happen around there. Many of them center around the Peepal Tree nearby and some of the legends seems to be much older than the train station itself. // Source: Wikimedia

Peepal Tree and its Haunted Origin Story in India

The Peepal tree, also known as the sacred fig is worshiped in Hindu culture and also known as ashvattha in India. Often people pray to it and light diya and incense sticks under the tree to rid themselves of all the Doshas from their horoscopes. The belief that the tree has divine powers comes from the Bhagavad Gita where Krishna said: “I am the Peepal Tree among the other trees.” Also Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma are believed to live inside the trees.

The Sacred Fig: In India and Hinduism the Peepal Tree is often called ashvattha and holds great significance. The same can be said for Buddhism where it is called the Bodhi Tree as this is where Buddha reached enlightenment. The tree also has a lot of superstitions around it.

Also in Buddhism the tree is significant and is known as the Bodhi tree as it is believed that Gautam Buddha got his enlightenment while meditating under the tree. As well as being sacred, there are a lot of lore and superstition surrounding this mysterious tree.

On the other side of its divine connection, the Peepal tree is also believed to be haunted and attract ghosts like the case with the one growing in Dwarka Sector 9.

An old myth about this is that if you sleep under a Peepal tree at night you will see a ghost and this is not just concerning this tree, as many old Peepal Trees have various ghost stories connected to them. But could there be something more behind this than old stories and rumors?

It is also worth noting the scientific reason for the spiritual things that are said to happen when staying at one of these trees at night and that it can be explained by simple biology. During the day the tree absorbs carbon dioxide and releases oxygen because of the sun. During night however, it releases the carbon dioxide that lowers the levels of oxygen human needs to breathe.

This process can feel suffocating, lead to hallucinations, and in worst case scenarios, even death. Could this be the reason why there are so many stories connected to seeing ghosts, hearing voices and even reaching some sort of enlightenment?

The Legend of the Killed Schoolgirl

According to local legend, the origins of the station’s haunting can be traced back to the tragic death of a schoolgirl in the area—a death that unleashed a torrent of supernatural activity upon the unsuspecting souls of Delhi.

When this is said to have happened is not specified in most sources. Some claim that it was in 2004 when a young school girl was killed by a cab as she was heading towards the station. This version seems unlikely though, as the metro station first opened in 2006.

But if there was something that happened unrelated to the Dwarka Sector 9 Metro Station or perhaps the year is just quoted wrong, is unknown.

One particularly eerie specter is that of an old woman wearing white and not a schoolgirl, whose ghostly form is said to materialize suddenly in the middle of the road outside of the metro station, only to fade away into the darkness moments later.

The Legend about the Road Construction

Another legend is about this supposed old woman in white in connection to the Peepal Tree outside of Dwarka Sector 9 Metro Station. According to a story, a contractor was haunted in his dreams by her when he was working on the road and wanted to remove the tree.

After being haunted and the construction workers noticed something off about the tree, they decided to leave it be and built a temple close to it instead.

The Sacred Fig by the Road: This is the tree close to Dwarka Sector 9 Metro Station said to have attracted ghosts over the years. What can be the reason for the haunting by the Peepal Tree? // Source

The Freedom Fighter Ghost

Another theory was that the ghost is from the time of the British Raj and the tree is much older than what many think, perhaps hundreds of years old. This story is set in the 19th century when the Dwarka region was a thick forest that was used by the rebels that went up against the colonial power.

Close to the tree there used to be a lake. One of the rebels was a lady that went into hiding in the forest, but drowned in the lake close to the tree. Her body was never found, but her spirit got attached to the tree and it is said she is protecting the area to this day.

Perhaps a seemingly random origin story for the haunting in the area, but the forest department actually have investigated several claims of illegally cutting down and damaging the remaining trees of the once dense forest.

The Haunting at Dwarka Sector 9 Metro Station

But how do these haunted stories look like today for people passing through the area of Dwarka Sector 9 Metro Station despite the origin stories?

Most of the stories from this area started coming from people taking the call center cabs at night. Witnesses have reported chilling encounters with unseen forces, describing sensations of being slapped by invisible energies and encountering apparitions that appear and vanish without a trace.

Many of the stories told is also about how the spirit of this girl is seen running behind cars, perhaps as a revenge for being hit and killed by one. What happens if she catches up to the cars is uncertain, but many reports about hearing knocks on the cars. Many accidents on the road have been attributed to this phenomenon.

Others walking along the road near the station have reported feeling an ominous shadow trailing behind them, its unseen presence casting a pall of fear over the night.

Another point of this alleged haunted place are the many different variations of who is haunting this what happened. A paranormal investigator once got in contact with a rickshaw driver who told them often encourage ghost stories as it is good for business and they can charge more at night from the curious people coming to look for ghosts. According to this rickshaw driver, people pay a lot for people to come for fake interviews and to tell lies about this place.

The Ghost of the Lady in White Sari of Delhi Cantt

Advertisements

After darkness falls on Delhi Cantt in the city, the ghosts are said to appear. Several of the locals have reported about the ghost of a woman wearing a white sari approaching cars, asking for lifts. Where she is going is unclear, but if you tell her no, it is said she will chase you.

The part of Delhi called Delhi Cantonment or simply Delhi Cantt is located in the heart of New Delhi, is a bustling hub of activity during the day. The Delhi Cantt houses a lot of the defense and army housing and schools.

It is said that this part of Delhi is the safest area. However, as the sun sets and the night falls, a different kind of activity takes over – the eerie and ghostly kind.

Read more: Check out all of the ghost stories from India

With all of these army forces you would think that Delhi Cantt would be a peaceful one. But according to the local word of mouth it is anything but. The area of over 10 000 acres close to Dhaula Kaun is notorious for its spooky legends, with tales of supernatural occurrences and sightings of apparitions and unexplained phenomena.

The Woman in White Saree

According to the legend, there is a middle aged woman wearing a white sari that is said to haunt the area of Delhi Cantt. She is said to have gray hair, and some sources even point out that she apparently has hairy arms.

Why she is said to wear a white saree though, is uncertain, however, many ghost stories involve a woman in white saree. In India and especially in Hinduism, the color white is also the color of mourning, and many  widows have traditionally worn them. The white saree is also said to represent purity, innocence as well as spirituality. This with the fact that most modern ghosts globally are wearing white, makes this trope especially common.

The Ghostly Tales of Delhi Cantt

Back to this particular ghost story, there are some variations of the reports and sightings. Some claim she comes out from the lush and green areas, some say she is just wandering the roads, most reports pinpoint her to between 1 and 4 am.

She is said to be walking along the roads and asks for a lift when night falls over the neighborhood. Apparently many of the call centers in the area advised their employees never to stop their car and give anyone a lift.

If you deny her a lift, it is said that she is following the car and even matching its speed, so you can’t outrun her.

It is said that she is the ghost of a lady that was killed on the route when she was going someplace. Perhaps on the road in a car accident, or perhaps in the green forestry people claim she comes from. To where we don’t know, but apparently she is still trying to get there.

The Djinns of Jamali Kamali Mosque and Tomb in Mehrauli

Advertisements

Djinns are said to haunt the Mehrauli park in Delhi, and around the mysterious mosque and tomb of Jamali Kamali, there are said to be strange hauntings going on. Who are the Djinns said to roam around the Jamali Kamali Mosque, and what do they want?

Tucked away in a quiet corner of the Mehrauli Archaeological Park in Delhi, the Jamali Kamali Mosque and Tomb has been shrouded in mystery and intrigue for centuries. The hauntingly beautiful mosque and tomb were built in the 16th century by the Sufi saint Jamali, who was believed to have miraculous powers.

History of Jamali Kamali Mosque and Tomb

Jamali Kamali Mosque and Tomb in Mehrauli, Delhi, is a historic complex that dates back to the 16th century in what has been known as “The City of Djinns”. Delhi is believed to be home to many Djinns, who reside in the city’s ancient buildings, tombs, and ruins. The complex was built by the Sufi saint Jamali in 1528-1529, who was a traveling poet known for his Persian spiritual teachings and miraculous powers in the Lodi Dynasty.

Jamali or Shaikh Fazlu’llah was a disciple of the famous Sufi saint Nizamuddin Auliya and is believed to have been a contemporary of Mughal emperor Akbar.

The complex consists of a mosque, a tomb, and a courtyard, and was built during the reign of the Mughal Emperor Akbar.

The mosque and tomb are built in the traditional Indo-Islamic architectural style and are adorned with intricate carvings and beautiful calligraphy. The mosque has a central dome and two minarets, while the tomb is a square-shaped structure with a flat roof. The courtyard is surrounded by arched colonnades and is a peaceful oasis in the heart of Mehrauli.

After Jamali died in 1535, he was buried in the tomb.

Kamali that is buried in the tomb with him was an unknown person. We know he was male because of the symbolic pen box on his grave and that he was one of Jamali’s disciples. Historians are unsure about their relationship and have called Kamali both his brother, wife or companion. Because of how their graves are places, it also implies that they were lovers.

Legends and Myths Associated with Jamali Kamali Mosque and Tomb

Jamali Kamali Mosque and Tomb has been shrouded in mystery and intrigue for centuries. The complex is said to be haunted by the spirits of Jamali and Kamali, who are believed to have supernatural powers. There are many legends and myths associated with the complex, which add to its enigmatic appeal.

One of the most popular legends associated with Jamali Kamali Mosque and Tomb is that it was the site of a love affair between Jamali and Kamali, something that the placements of the graves have suggested.

Haunted Stories of Jamali Kamali Mosque and Tomb

Jamali Kamali Mosque and Tomb is said to be one of the most haunted places in Delhi. Many people have reported paranormal activity in the complex, including sightings of ghosts or Djinns.

People have claimed to have seen strange lights and shadows in the tomb and heard something that sounds like an animal growling at them or laughing voices.

There is also a feeling of someone standing right next to them, or thinking that someone is looking at them behind the pillars, but when going to investigate, there is nothing there.

Mehrauli Park: By daylight i is a nice and green park to spend time in. When darkness falls however, it is said that Djinns are haunting the park and especially the Jamali Kamali Mosque and Tomb seen in he background. // Source: Varun Shiv Kapur/Flickr

Perhaps worst is it for those that have felt an unknown force slapping them that leaves tiny hand marks on their faces for days. This is said to happen especially during the night when the park is supposed to be locked and no one is supposed to be there.

Who is to say who is right, as people claim that what they have heard is real, while others say the stories are just made up.

A story told through Vice claims that a woman was in the park after dark, when she felt something sinister coming after her. The following six months she woke up 3 in the morning every night and saw a hand on the glass of the ventilator placed above the door to her balcony.

This experience took a toll on her mental health until she left her job and moved to another city when the episodes stopped. Whether this was because she changed her life or because she managed to shake the djinns off, who is to say?

The Enduring Legacy of Jamali Kamali Mosque and Tomb

Jamali Kamali Mosque and Tomb is a fascinating and enigmatic landmark that has captured the imagination of people for centuries. Is it Jamali who is still haunting his own tomb? Could it be Kamali, whose name is just something given to locals as it rhymed with Jamali. What were they really to each other? A teacher and student? Lovers? Today there are more rumors than answers.

While the complex is said to be haunted, it is also a peaceful oasis in the heart of the bustling city and is a popular tourist attraction. But just to be safe, it is said you should get out of the park when you hear the call to evening prayer, The maghrib adhan, before dark, so you don’t bring any djinns with you home.
